Family Involvement Specialist Main Responsibilities

Family Involvement Specialist: Serves as a resource and/or trainer for family service staff, center staff, parents and volunteers; has specialized knowledge in working with adults, adult education, recreation, etc.; collaborates with community agencies and adult education resources; monitor family records, conducts parent training and other special activities and events, works with parent groups, and provides parent training and support

Strategic Planning
Assist the Assistant Director with a strategic planning process that results in the development and implementation of ongoing family involvement activities and events..

Resource Management

Use the resources of KCI to ensure the implementation of the activities included in the Family Involvement handbook adopted by the Board of Directors in November 2008.

Partnership Development
Assist with the Development of strategic alliances with community leaders and local officials. Develop collaborative partnerships with other family and youth serving organizations, adult education organizations, and recreation programs.

Assistant Director's Primary Function:  In accordance with the policies and procedures established for and by Kids Central, Inc. the Assistant Director will provide direction to subordinate staff in carrying out the key roles assigned to them. The Assistant Director will assist the Executive Director in ensuring that Operations functions of the company are completed efficiently and effectively. The Assistant Director will ensure that the Information systems functions of the company are effective and that reports are completed in a timely manner. The Assistant Director will supervise and provide direction for the content areas of Education, Health, Mental Health, Family & Community Partnerships, Nutrition, Safety, and Disabilities. The Assistant Director will provide direction in the area of playgrounds (equipment and safety), facilities (both owned and leased), and procurement of supplies and equipment.

A reorganization of the senior management team at KCI was announced at the joint Policy Council and Board of Directors meeting for June. Kim Austin was named Assistant Director of Kids Central Inc.  In addition, a new position of Family Involvement Specialist was created to work with the Family Advocates.
