KCI In-Service Training Information & Schedules

Kids Central, Inc staffers assemble for group photo during in-service workshop held at Breaks Interstate Park on Monday, August 18th. This was our kick-off training session for this year.
the staff to make ready all of KCI’s many different program options and service locations.    Included in the first day of sessions will be the introduction of new employees, staff pictures, visits from AFLAC, and New Peoples Bank.  We will have a session on services to families, OSHA regulations, Bus Safety, administrative procedures and much more.  Schedules for the rest of the pre-service  training events will be passed out at the meeting and instruction will be given to all staff as to where they will be over the next nine days of training.
So welcome back to KCI.  2008-2009 will indeed be a great year.  Together we will accomplish our goals and our children and families will be stronger and healthier as a result of their choosing KCI as the place of choice for quality pre-school experiences.

KCI announces scheduled training dates for the annual pre-service event.  This year the pre-service training event will take place beginning Monday August 18th at the Breaks Interstate Park in Haysi.  Beginning at 8:30 a.m. the event will kick off two weeks of intensive training and preparation for

It’s near Fall and Kasey is jumping for joy that Head Start Classes are about to begin.  Kids Central will kick-off a full schedule of classes in Wise and Dickenson Counties and the City of Norton beginning September 2nd.  As we prepare for the opening of the classrooms and the Home Base Teachers get their plans made we look to start yet another great year of fun and learning at KCI.

The Administrative Staff has been working all summer long to prepare a program of in-service training events that will meet the requirements of DSS, Head Start, and KCI.  The classrooms are filled with new equipment such as computer work stations, new curriculum supplements like the Houghton Mifflin Program for Pre-School and equipment of every description.  Central Stores is loaded with craft supplies, education materials and once again each child will have a loaded back-pack to use all year long.

Kids Central has been trying to find ways for our staff to make quality referrals and to offer up to the minute information on a variety of subjects. We have looked at several sources and have finally decided to go with the American Academy of Pediatrics.  We have on hand brochures covering a wide range of topics from bedwetting to dental health, from diaper rash to toy safety.  There are 50 different titles available.  It is the intention for the use of the brochures to go to parents and care givers who need the information.  If asked for help this will be a temporary way to get information to the care giver while additional answers and help are sought.  If you observe a instance where you think one of the brochures will help make the referral to a Family Advocate or to your supervisor.  We will not rely on the brochures to meet the needs of the parents of our children.  We will continue to offer intensive, quality, and respectful assistance to our families.  Remember all of us are Advocates for the family and we must work together to ensure that our families receive the best service available.

If you need any of the brochures call the Family Advocates and they will get them delivered to you.  If you use the brochures make sure you note the handout in the progress notes for the child in the official record.
