KCI Policy Council In Appreciation Award Created to recognize outstanding leadership to KCI by a member of the Parent Policy Council the Policy Council In-Appreciation Award was presented to Kenneth Rose of Haysi.   Kenneth is an active member of the Policy Council and served as the Vice-Chair this year.  Kenneth is very supportive of the program of KCI and is an outspoken advocate for KCI.  Our thanks to Kenneth from all of us a KCI and the Policy Council for your help.

The KCI Staff Service Award was created to honor the service of employees of KCI recognizing years of loyal valuable and dedicated service.   Frances has devoted her life to the service of children and has been with KCI for 20 years.  Frances always has a smile and a kind word and is truly a joy to work with.  Frances is currently the Classroom Assistant at the Hawthorne Center.  Our thanks and our heart felt congratulations to Frances for being recognized by her peers.

Jason French

The Volunteer Service Award was established to recognize a volunteer that exemplifies the spirit of volunteerism to KCI.  This year we recognize Jason French for his many hours of valuable and incisive service to KCI.  Jason was the Chair of the Parent Policy Council, a member of the Board of Directors and an advocate for Kids Central.  Jason was involved in the development of a program of parent involvement which led to the creation of the KCI Bucks Program and for training sessions being held throughout our service area.  Jason has served on numerous committees and this year he is our Board of Directors Vice-Chair.  Our sincerest thanks to Jason and his wife for their support of KCI

 

KCI Community Service Award The purpose of the Community Service Award is to recognize outstanding service to Kids Central and the community served by Kids Central by an agency partnering to serve children and families in the area covered by KCI.  This year’s recipient is the Health Wagon headquartered in Dickenson County but serving the needs of residents of Southwest Virginia.  Sister Bernie Kenny, a member of the Board of Directors of Kids Central and a very important part of the history and success of the Health Wagon accepted the award for Teresa Gardner and the Health Wagon.  The Health Wagon is mobile and comes to Norton, St. Paul, Clinchco, and other areas to offer services to parents and children served by KCI.  Our thanks to Teresa and the staff of the Health Wagon for their dedication and continued support of Kids Central

Donald Baker Leadership Award
This award was established to recognize outstanding leadership in service to Kids Central and the community served by Kids Central by a KCI Board Member. The award bears the name of Donald Baker to acknowledge his leadership and stewardship of the organization through some very turbulent times.  Donald Baker served as the Chairman of the Board for seven years.  This year’s award recipient Rev. George Aichel has served KCI for ten years.  During his tenure he has served in numerous roles including the Secretary of the Board and the Treasurer of the Board.  Rev. Aichel has also served on several standing committees and numerous special committees.  Rev. Aichel is a devoted and loyal family man and he lends his values and astute judgment to his role as a member of the Board of Directors for Kids Central, Inc.  Our thanks to Rev. Aichel and to his beloved wife Zelma for their support of KCI’s mission.

In 2007 the Board of Directors established Kids Central, Inc. Honor Roll.  The Honor Roll recognizes people and agencies that go above and beyond providing service to the children and families served by Kids Central.  This year the awards were presented at the joint Board and Policy Council meeting held on June 24, 2008.
